Meet Attorney Joe Shannon | Making a Difference in the Lives of Real People
Every single day, attorney Joe Shannon asks himself, “Am I making a difference?” If he’s making a difference in the lives of his family, community, and clients, he knows he’s on the right path. As a personal injury attorney in Chicago, Joe enjoys representing the underdog and coming through for folks when they need it most.
Joe grew up in a small town in Washington state. (He's number 9 of 10 kids in his family.) From an early age, his parents ingrained values of selflessness. They made sure to take care of their neighbors and community first.
His family didn’t make a lot of money, but they had rich relationships with each other and their neighbors. His parents taught him that it’s important to be there when people need you most when they’re vulnerable.
Joe says, “My whole life has been the American dream – from being 1 of 10 kids from a lower-income family to being able to use those gifts that I’ve gotten from my family and my education to help people who really need us.”
From Defending Insurance Companies to Representing the Vulnerable
With over 30 years of experience, Joe founded our personal injury firm, Shannon Law Group, P.C., in 2009. Before he represented seriously injured folks, Joe sat on the other side of the table. He represented big insurance companies and corporations for the first eight years of his career. He was with another personal injury firm before starting SLG.
Joe left the insurance industry because he wanted to make a difference for real folks who don’t have anyone to protect their rights after a catastrophic accident.
Joe’s past experience as an insurance defense lawyer gives him an edge over them today. He knows the “inside baseball” of their trade. He knows the games that insurance companies and their lawyers play to screw over injured folks and ultimately underpay their claims. Today, he uses this insider knowledge against them when representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases.
For example, he fought and won the largest verdict in Will County in 2005. But he understands that our past accomplishments should not be the focus of our personal injury law firm. Our team focuses on what we can do today for our clients and families.
If you were injured due to someone else’s negligence, Joe would be happy to sit down with you and explore your options. Text him at (312) 847-2428 to get started.

Answers to Your Most Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re seriously injured and someone else is at fault, hiring a lawyer can be one of the best you can do for yourself and your case. People represented by an experienced lawyer often recover significantly more money than they would if they didn’t. Why? Because insurance adjusters and companies know that you don’t fully understand the value of your case.
As trial lawyers, we know how to investigate and add significant value to your case. When you hire a lawyer, you’re leveling the playing field between you and the insurance company. We also take the stress off of your shoulders so you can focus on getting better.
When you contact Shannon Law Group, one of our lawyers will personally review your case at no cost to you. If we can help you, we will. If we’re unable to help you, we will refer you to another lawyer who can. Call us 24/7 at (312) 578-9501 to get started.
At Shannon Law Group, we are paid on a contingency fee basis. What does that mean? We don’t get paid until we come through for you at the end of your case. We take a fee when we achieve a settlement or award for you.
If we are unable to come through for you, we will absorb the costs of your case. As our client, you will never receive a bill or invoice from our office.
In the United States, every state has a statute of limitations (or deadline) for filing an injury lawsuit. This deadline varies from 1-3 years. In Illinois, you typically have two years to file a lawsuit. That’s why it’s important to contact a lawyer as soon as possible after car accident or injury.
However, you should still contact a lawyer even if you believe your time has run out. It may not be too late to pursue a lawsuit. Contact us today to get started.
