In a recent announcement, Subaru issued a recall for over 200,000 cars and SUV’s in the US and Canada because fuel pumps can fail and cause engines to stall. The recall covers certain 2018 and 2019 vehicles (see list below ).

Subaru revealed in government documents that the low pressure fuel pump can fail and engines can lose power while the vehicles are being driven. This could potentially produce devastating results for drivers of these cars along with their fellow passengers, in addition to other motorists traveling in their vicinity.

The following vehicles have been identified in this recall

  • 2017-18 Subaru Impreza Hatchback
  • 2017-18 Subaru Impreza
  • 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
  • 2019 Subaru Outback
  • 2019 Subaru Legacy
  • 2019 Subaru Forester

This is the second recall for Subaru vehicles in the last four months.

In January of this year, Subaru issued a recall for nearly 500,000 vehicles to replace front passenger airbag inflators. There was concern that the recalled airbag inflators may explode after long term exposure to high humidity or extreme temperatures, according to documents released by the National Highway Safety Administration.

In this type of explosion, there is a risk of sharp metal fragments striking the driver or passengers, leading to serious injury or death.

The January 2020 recall identified the following vehicles:

  • 2009-2013 Forester
  • 2003 to 2006 Baja,
  • 2004 to 2011 Impreza,
  • 2004 to 2014 WRX (including STI)
  • 2003 to 2014 Legacy and Outback
  • 2006 Saab 9 2x vehicle models.

If you or someone you know has recently been injured in an auto collision regarding one of these vehicles, there may be a viable claim against the manufacturer. We are here to help! Contact us today for a free case review.
